Origin

The goldendoodle was first bred by Monica Dickens in 1969. Popularity for the goldendoodle grew in the 1990’s when breeders in North America and Australia began crossing golden retrievers with standard poodles or toy poodle to reduce a mini goldendoodle.

General Appearance and Size

The miniature goldendoodle is the result of a miniature or toy poodle crossed with a Golden Retriever, goldendoodle, or mini goldendoodle. These dogs tend to range in size from 10-15 inches in height and 7-30 Ibs in weight depending on whether one parent is a standard or not.

Temperament

Their general temperaments make them a great addition to the family. Mini goldendoodles make fantastic family pets. They are non-aggressive, highly intelligent, loving, playful, fun, sweet, and enduringly loyal. Sensitive to tone of voice, the mini doodle is eager to please and very social. We've raised a number of service and therapy dogs, and continue to do so every year.

Socialization

Socialization refers to meeting and interacting with other dogs and people. It’s equally important to expose them to different sights, sounds, smells, textures, and experiences from an early age.

Exercise

Mini goldendoodles have a moderate energy level and are easy to train. The mini doodle is a moderately active dog who requires around 20 to 30 minutes of daily exercise. They adopt quickly to most hot and cold weather climates making them an excellent all-weather dog selection.

Grooming

To groom your goldendoodle, brush your dug once a day to remove debris and detangles its fur. Additionally, bathe its coat with dog shampoo before trimming its coat of about 1 inch. Make sure to clip the body hairs with one-inch clipper guard on your clippers so the hair is cut evenly.

As we conclude this journey through the world of Mini Goldendoodles, we invite you to reflect on the beauty and joy these furry companions bring into our lives. At The Puppy Lodge, our commitment goes beyond breeding exceptional puppies; it extends to giving back and making a positive impact in the world. Together, we can make a meaningful difference and continue to share the happiness that our beloved Mini Goldendoodles bring into our homes and hearts.
